Local Artists and Craftsmen
All the villages in the area are full of artists and craftsmen, engaging in pottery,
woodwork, wrought iron, and many
other métiers. There are also numerous local flea-markets.
Especially nearby: Ceramic artist, Jean-Pierre Bouley, displays his creations at
La Guiche.
In Mont Saint Vincent itself, François Mussel invites you to visit his pottery workshop.
Excursions
Tour of Romanesque churches: the Cathedral of Saint Lazare at Autun; the Chapel
of the Monks at Berzé-la-Ville;
the Abbey of Cluny; the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Paray-le-Monial; and many
others. Not to be forgotten is the
modern religious centre of Taizé.
Tour of chateaus: Berzé-la-Ville, Brancion, Comartin, Chateau de la Verrerie, Digoin, Drée, La Clayette, Sercy,
Pierreclos, and many more.
The Voie Verte (Green Track), 20 minutes from Mont Saint Vincent, is a path paved
on an old railroad line from
Buxy to Cluny. You can walk, hike, rollerblade, or rent a bicycle and pedal through
the beautiful French countryside.

Departing from Paris:
1. By way of Buxy.
• From Autoroute A6, exit for Chalon Sud
• Follow the signs for Buxy (12 miles; 20 km)
• At Buxy, continue on the D977 towards Charolles
• Take the D983 • Pass through the villages of Germagny, Genouilly till you reach Joncy.
• At Joncy, go to the intersection and turn right (D980)
• Continue in the direction of Montceau les Mines
• At the sign for Mont-Saint-Vincent, turn right on the D405
• At the fork, take the D105 to the left
• As you enter the village, you’ll find a large parking lot
in the square. Villa Maria is across from the parking lot.
You can’t miss it: Gendarmerie Nationale is still inscribed
on the wall!
2. By way of Montceau les Mines.
• From Autoroute A6, exit for Chalon Sud
• After the toll-booth, turn left in the direction of Montceau
les Mines
• Go straight to the centre of Montceau les Mines
• Take the D980 in the direction of Cluny-Mâcon
• After about 6 miles (10 kilometers) turn left at the sign
for Mont-Saint-Vincent

• Continue on the D105 to the village of Mont-Saint-Vincent
• As you enter the village, you’ll find a large parking lot
in the square. Villa Maria is across from the parking lot.

Departing from Lyon:
• Take Autoroute A6/E15 in the direction of Paris.
• Exit at Mâcon-Sud (36 miles; 64 kilometres) and at the rotary
take the first right towards Mâcon-Moulin-Cluny
• Continue straight on this road until the exit to the right
for Cluny
• At Cluny, go straight to and on through the rotary, towards
Montceau les Mines (D980)
• At Salornay sur Guye, continue straight • At the sign for
Mont-Saint-Vincent, turn right on the D405
• At the fork, take the D105 to the left to the village of
Mont-Saint-Vincent
• As you enter the village, you’ll find a large parking lot
in the square. Villa Maria is across from the parking lot.
